CBS 8 Chief Meteorologist Ashley McDonald is on a mission trip to feed orphans in Mbale, Uganda. Ashley is serving at Impact Ministries and Faith Radio Uganda. She has set a goal to feed the 700 orphans during her two-week visit. The following is an email she sent back to the station on April 16:

A nice relaxing day...Those are always good in the middle of a long trip like this.

We started this morning by going and taking some pictures of Faith Radio and their equipment, at their current location in downtown Mbale. Then, we went up the mountain to the desired location for their tower.  It was a bumpy and quite frankly, a dangerous route, but it was our only option. I have included some pictures of the drive. We saw 2 beautiful waterfalls on the way up. On the way up I was actually cool and there weren't any mosquitoes. Praise the Lord! If you could see my legs and arms, it looks like I have chicken pox. It's all the red bumps from the bites. I am constantly putting on bug repellent, so hopefully that helps to keep the dangerous ones away. I am very healthy otherwise. No stomach problems, the food is fairly bland here and I mean that in a good way too. A lot of starches and veggies. I'm well fed and drink plenty of bottled water.

At the top of the mountain we got out and surveyed the desired location for a radio tower. They are also going to have to build a small house where someone will need to be 24 hours a day, in the event the transmitter goes down. Either they will hire a couple to take shifts, or someone will actually live in their home and just be on-call 24 hrs/day.

After the mountain, we headed home for lunch and a short rest. Then back to the orphanage. The Pastor taught a 2 hour class on the bible, while played and spent time with the children. I just arrived back to the house and will help Mama Okabe prepare dinner.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, these are from today. I tried to label the pictures today so you'll know what they are.

Thank you for the continued prayer support and encouragement. Each one of you is a true blessing. I cannot thank you enough!

God Bless,
Ashley
