Exclusive:Gas Station Clerk Fights Robber; Shares Story with CBS 8 NewsA Montgomery gas station clerk talks only to CBS 8 News about what it was like to come face-to-face with an armed robber. A split-second decision may have saved the clerk's life although it left the robber dead. Montgomery Police say a 40-year-old man armed with a gun entered this gas station on West South Blvd. Monday night. What happens next you won't believe. Yellow tape surrounded the Citgo parking lot on Monday night. One man dead, and police left cleaning up the scene. But it wasn't the usual situation. This time the clerk on duty fought back. And by the way, the clerk was Bobby Chilson. A single mother. "I had a gun right here, because he came in right here. When he shot, I grabbed my gun. I went back here, because he slapped me too. But I went back, I shot him," she says. "I thought it was her, because so many people were calling me and telling me that something had happened in the store. My heart dropped down to the floor. My doctor told me my pressure was up 200," says Sara Chilson. Chilson says there was only $200 in the cash register that night. |
