Montgomery Hosts First Professional MMA Event, Benefits Wounded Veterans

A new event is coming to town this weekend. Saturday's "Fight Night" is a sanctioned professional mixed martial arts event that's raising money for a good cause.

The event is drawing homegrown fighters and competitors from all over the Southeast.

For Montgomery native and co-headliner Marine Corps Captain Lee Stuckey, behind each punch there's a purpose.

One dollar from each ticket sold will go towards his non-profit organization "AHERO", which stands for America's Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors.

It supports wounded veterans from hospitals around the United States, flying them here to enjoy hunting, fishing, or four-wheeling.

"These guys have gone through sacrifice and these guys have served their country and been injured in Afghanistan or Iraq, and gone through some severe injuries. To be able to support them and help them through their trials and tribulations, is just awesome," said Captain Stuckey.

"Fight Night" will be held Saturday, July 28th at the Renaissance Convention Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7:30 p.m.
