Montgomery Police are cracking down on underage drinking in the entertainment district.

Public Safety Director Christopher Murphy says officers will patrol the area on bicycles and marked cars. Undercover officers will also canvass the area at night. An ordinance passed last year, establishing a downtown entertainment district.

Now some say underage visitors are bringing their own liquor. Mayor Todd Strange says authorities are enforcing rules against people walking through the entertainment district carrying glass containers.

He says the city wants to be sure drinks visitors carry with them through the district are purchased legally from within the area.
