A man Montgomery police describe as a serial rapist terrorized women since February. They've announced they made an arrest two weeks ago, but should women have been alerted sooner so they could protect themselves?

The public did not know anything about what police describe as a serial rapist attacking women in Montgomery, but some say they wish they had.

"It's kind of scary because sometimes I'm out late at night. I have two small children, so to be equipped with that knowledge that there is a serial rapist going around, that would've been beneficial," said Montgomery resident, Tiffany Carnell.

Montgomery Police say women are out of danger because an arrest was made in three sexual assaults, but the arrest came two months after the first attack in February.

"In the beginning, he offended. He waited awhile before he reoffended, but as time went by, he started offending more frequently and again, that helped us put our case together, identify him, and make an arrest," said Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy.

Police say the man responsible is 21-year-old Roderikus Alloway who is charged with 12 felonies including rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, kidnapping, and the list goes on.

They say he lured women to an undisclosed location using social media and then attacked them and sexually assaulted them. People, especially women, want to know, why weren't we told?

"Should we have been warned? Well we didn't have enough information. We didn't see the pattern and the link to the social media until the 24 hours out, we made an arrest. We had this guy identified. We didn't want to spook him and him flee and be a fugitive. We had no information to release to give a warning," said Chief Murphy.

Police say they expect to file more charges against the suspect. Alloway is behind bars at the county jail and being held on a total of $675,000 bond.
