Montgomery Police Make Arrest in Fatal Shooting

Montgomery police make an arrest in a fatal shooting from October.

Nineteen year old Jaquincy Croskey of Montgomery is charge with capitol murder, attempted murder, and first degree robbery in connection with the death of 59-year-old John Scroggins.

Around 10:00 p.m. on the night of October 10 authorities responded to the 1600 block of Crouson Street on reports of two people being shot.

When they arrived on the scene, police say they found Scroggins and another unidentified 43-year-old male.

Scroggins and the other man were transported to Jackson hospital, where Scroggins later died.

Police say the other victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Montgomery Police say the shooting stemmed from a possible robbery attempt.

Croskey was taken into custody Friday, November 2.

He is currently being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond.
