Montgomery Police Make Arrest in Woman's Shooting Death

Montgomery police have arrested a man and charged him with killing his girlfriend on Independence Day.

Police say Gyanendra Norman has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Glenndy Belle Smith.

Police say Smith was shot several times at a home on Dee Drive around 7 p.m. She was taken to Baptist Medical Center South where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the shooting happened after an argument. Norman is being held on $75,000 bond.

This is the city's 13th homicide of the year.
