Montgomery police want to find a man accused of approaching an 8-year-old girl at Buddy Watson Park and trying to persuade her to go with him.

Police say the incident happened Friday, May 18, while the girl was attending a ball game with her family. She reportedly encountered the man at the concession stand. Police say the man spoke to the child, but made no attempt at physical contact. The girl was frightened and ran back to her parents.

Police say the man in the sketch is a person of interest. He is believed to be white, 5’10-6’00’, with a slim build, 60-70 years old. He has a gray mustache, wore an orange polo-style shirt, blue cap and old dress shoes.

If you think you've seen him, call the Montgomery Police Department at (334) 625-2831.

Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy said the police department works with Parks and Recreation to provide a safe environment at city parks for children and families. Extra security is being provided at the parks.
