New Industry Bringing More Jobs to Selma
From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- A new industry and more jobs are on the way to the Selma and Dallas County area.
Zilkha Biomass Energy is opening a wood pellet mill at the old Dixie Pellets facility near Selma. The company is investing more than 45-million dollars-- and bringing more than 50 new jobs to the area. Zilkha is also expected to generate about a hundred more jobs in the logging and trucking areas. "We will be active out there starting right away and our goal is to have the plant up and running by mid-year 2013, just a little over a year from now," said Zilkha CEO Jack Holmes, Jr. Holmes says the new facility will be the first full scale commercial black-pellet plant in the world.
