State troopers say Hester’s car crossed the median on Highway 231, colliding with an 18-wheeler. He died at the scene. On Tuesday, co-workers were beginning to learn of Hester’s death. “Some of them that come in here this morning didn’t know anything about it. Friends say Lige Hester gave his last concert at the fairgrounds last Saturday. He was 65 years old.
State troopers have not said what might have caused Hester’s car to cross the median and into the other lane. The crash remains under investigation.
