Perry Co. Commissioner Accused of Assault By Pregnant Woman

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  A Perry County Commissioner is accused of physically assaulting a Marion woman who is five months pregnant.

Kentory Smith of Marion claims she was choked, knocked down and kneed in the stomach by Perry County Commissioner -- Brett Harrison.

"I was in pain. I was scratched up, bruised up, neck hurt just pretty much bruised up and out of breath or whatever," said Smith.

But Smith's ex-boyfriend Anthony Thomas says Harrison lost his balance and fell on Smith while he was trying to break up a fight between the two of them.

"They fell." said Thomas. "He's saying ma'am please let me go. He's trying to get up, I had to pry her hands open to get him loose. She got his shirt, done bust his lip and everything. I had to pry her off of him."

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon but no arrests have been made.

A hearing to see if there is enough probable cause to issue an arrest warrant has been set for August 8th.
