After millions of votes were cast and beating out hundreds of other cities, Pratt Park in Prattville is finally breaking ground on the new splash pad it won from Coca-Cola.

At 11 a.m., the city of Prattville broke ground on the long awaited splash pad behind the pool in Pratt Park.

The city used a social media website to get the public involved in picking what will be the pad's special feature. After 365 votes and five different options, "Crocodile Steve" won.

Director of Autauga County's Emergency Management Agency, Ernie Baggett said, "I think what this will do is this will open up opportunities for families to come out and enjoy themselves and spend time together. It will promote the city of Prattville and I believe that it will bring more citizens in."

"I think it will bring more attention to the park itself, give us more everything," said resident Steven Molton said during his visit to the park. "To have a little more fun together out here, we have, like I said, the bigger kids in the pool and the smaller kids in the splash pad and I think that'll be great."

A Prattville city official says they expect the splash pad will be completed sometime in August.
