If you are looking for a job, then you may be in luck. Retailers are hiring an estimated 700,000 people across the country for seasonal employment.

This time of year in Alabama, companies expect about a 4% increase in their business. And they are looking for extra employees to help them out.

"Alabamians will spend about 9 billions dollars with a 'B' in November and December and that's about 350 million more than they spent last year," says Alabama Retail Association Director of Public Relations Nancy Dennis.

This spike in business requires extra helping hands. Stores like Target, JCPenney, Kohls, Party City, and Toys R Us are all looking for help.

"We're hiring 60 people to help push more trucks in the mornings. We have a lot more merchandise coming in the store, more cashiers to get people in and out of here as conveniently as we can, and then of course people on the floor making sure that it looks good throughout the day," says Target supervisor Blake Stewart.

Temporary jobs are especially good for those looking for additional employment and extra cash to help them through the season.

"That'll just get me through the holidays because I have a permanent job. My first job is the job that pays the bills and stuff but it'll just be some extra money," says Ssummayah Greenwood.

And although these stores are hiring for seasonal work, often times it can lead to a permanent position. Some employers equate these seasonal jobs to auditions for full-time employment.

"Some of the best talent that we have in our store start out as seasonal team employees through the holidays," says Stewart.

Stores hiring this season include: Target, JCPenney, Kohls, Party City, Toys"R"Us, Wal-Mart, Macy's, and Gamestop,
