A leadership reception in Montgomery attracted some high profile attendees.

Rev. Jesse Jackson spoke in front of hundreds at The Medical Place.

The theme of the event- 50 years later, free but not equal.

Alfred Seawright and Greg Calhoun sponsored the event. And Jackson took the time to reflect on how far our country has come since the civil rights movement, but also on the work that still needs to be done.

Rev. Jesse Jackson/ Spoke at Leadership Reception said, "You have about $500,000 poor folk in this state white and black and this government choose to send back $11 billion and deny federal money in the state for medical aid for the poorest Alabama citizens. The idea that people pay federal taxes but cant get money for federal aid is not right."

One of the goals of the event is to generate excitement and energize Montgomery before the fiftieth anniversary later this year.
