After more than a week of protesting in Ferguson, Missouri- following the shooting death of Michael Brown, people around the country are taking notice. And that includes right here in the Capitol City.

That was one of the messages from rally goers at the Save Ourselves Movement gathering on the Capitol Steps.

Education rights was also a topic at Saturday's rally. Organizers are pushing for things like adding black history in curriculum and raising awareness about increasing graduation rates.

Chair of Education Committee SOS Karen Jones said, "We always hear in our society that our youth are the future that they are tomorrow but we are here to say that the youth can be today's leaders but it is up to us to empower young people and educate them."

This rally was day two of the movement's Jericho walk for the next seven days.

The marchers will walk around the capitol, much like the biblical story of Joshua walking around the city of Jericho.
