From the West Alabama Newsroom--  The search for a missing woman continues in Demopolis.

Lt. Rex Flowers with the Demopolis Police Department says the search for 57 year old Maggie Wright has turned up nothing so far.

"First we conducted a search on the ground and after that we started contacting close friends and relatives talking with them and the people that last seen her," he said.

Flowers says Wright disappeared nearly a week ago after attending a party at the Demopolis Civic Center which is located on the riverfront.

"She left there walking home and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

A search and rescue team from Madison County helped search along the shoreline of the Tombigbee River.

"There's a possibility she may have gone into the river," said Ed Nicholas of Sartec K-9 Unit. "We're using dogs that are trained to smell out human remains to see if we can find something in the river."

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts -- or the disappearance of Maggie Wright call the Demopolis Police Department at (334) 289-3073.
