A Selma man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2008 death of his girlfriend.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson says Rodriquez Simpson pleaded guilty to the death of 22-year-old Shamika Walton.

Walton's body was found in a wooded area in Dallas County about a week after she was reported missing.

"The defendant thought that the victim was cheating on him, so he killed her and he rode her around in his trunk for a while and dumped her body out in the woods," Jackson told CBS 8 News.

Jackson says the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Simpson was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
