State's Largest Historic District on Display in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom--  The city of Selma will showcase another part of it's rich history as it hosts the Annual Historic Selma Pilgrimage this weekend.

The pilgrimage features guided tours of some of the historic homes and buildings located in the city.
Event organizers say this year's pilgrimage highlights the city's Jewish heritage.

"We have the largest historic district in the state and Selma has an opportunity to open it's door's once a year and this is our 38th year," said Pilgrmage Chairman Jewel Williamson. "We've got beautiful homes, we've got lots of history and wonderful architecture."

Williamson says there will also be art shows and a horse drawn carriage tours available during this year's event. The Historic Selma Pilgrimage is March 15th and 16th.
