From the West Alabama Newsroom--  People in Dallas County remember the historic March On Washington -- and reflecting on the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. -- and his dream.

Students at Dallas County High School say there's more opportunity and freedom available as a result of the march.

About a quarter of a million people packed the National Mall fifty years ago. Dr. King delivered his famous -- I Have a Dream speech -- laying out his vision for the country and a path for the country to pursue.

Caitlin Moore and Justin Chandler are seniors at Dallas County High School.

"He took a stand for not only us and our rights but for us to have a good future," said Moore.

"He actually changed the way this country thought," said Chandler. "He was a brave individual."

They say each and every American has a personal responsibility to move the dream closer to becoming reality.
