Authorities in Pike County have arrested a man wanted for three killings in Pensacola, Florida.

41- year -old Derrick Thompson of Florida was arrested around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Thompson was the focus of a manhunt covering hundreds of miles, across two states.

Pike Co. Sheriff Russell Thomas said, "He was a suspect in two homicides in Santa Rosa Florida. And a third homicide in Panama City."

All three murders in 48 hours, and authorities say he fled the Florida area and a tip led them to this property off Pike County Road 1165

Troy Police Lt. Bryan Weed said,  "He had a previous connection from hunting and doing some work for the property owner...he was extremely dangerous he was unstable. He had numerous handguns in the long gun."

Sheriff Thomas said, "The first two that were shot in Santa Rosa they described as being execution style and you know we were told that he would have automatic weapons on him that he would not be taken alive. And he was known to abuse narcotics so we were very very cautious."

The two tactical teams caution payed off. After staking out the property through the night they say Thompson went to pull out of this gate at 5:10 this morning. And he was taken into custody without incident.

Lt. Weed said, "Two agencies can work together and cooperate and have a common goal and get someone like this out of the community that you don't really expect to wind up being here."

Thompson's been taken back to Florida where he's facing three murder charges and other charges for burglary and grand theft auto.
