Tallassee Southside Middle School Principal Killed In Traffic AccidentAlabama State Troopers confirm Southside Middle School principal Alan Thompson died in a wreck in Elmore County Saturday night.
Troopers say the two-vehicle crash happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cherokee Trail Road and State Route 14. The 49-year old principal lost his life after his 2010 Chevrolet Impala collided with a 2001 Ford Taurus, belonging to 22-year old Jeremy Stroud. Stroud was not injured in the accident. State troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash, no other information is available at this time.
Thompson, a Calera native, was welcomed to the Tallassee School System for the 2012-13 school year when Dr. Kenneth Varner stepped down as principal at Southside Middle School to be the district's superintendent.
