Triple-Murder Suspect Captured at Selma Apartment Complex
The manhunt for Deandra Lee has centered around the city of Selma for past two days- his capture Saturday morning means people in the city can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Tenants in the Merrimac Apartments in Selma where Lee was captured say they're glad the search for Lee is over--- but they're shocked that it ended so close to home.
Tenants say police evacuated some of the surrounding apartments-- then broke down the door of the apartment where he was.
Lee and the woman who lived in the apartment were taken into police custody without incident.
"My heart dropped because he was too close," said tenant Tashael Bennett Carter.
Crystal Richardson lives a few doors down from the apartment where Lee was captured.
"There's kids out here and he could have hurt anybody. She put everybody in jeopardy," said Richardson.
"I'm glad they got one bad guy off the street, I'm happy about that," said tenant Neita Slaybaugh.
The identity of the woman taken into custody along with Lee has not been released-- but authorities say she could face charges in the case.
