The Troy University Board of Trustees passes next year's budget, but are still faced with the challenge of operating with less.

The 2015's approved budget of $225 million is down $4 million from the year before, and down $30 million from 2011.

University leaders say some of that is because Troy's state appropriations per student are the lowest in Alabama.

Questions were raised about at what point will the university lose quality with all the cutting of the budget.

They are anticipating flat enrollment for 2015, but say they've come up with a strategy to try to draw in more students.

Some specific ideas presented to the board included upping the university's presence in Mobile, hosting Christian music events, and recruiting from India and South America.
