Two Men Charged With Murder in Selma Shooting

Two men have been charged with murder in connection with a shooting that left one man dead in Selma.

Early in the morning on January 12th, officers from the Selma Police Department responded to a call from the Vaughan Hospital Emergency Room about a gunshot victim.

The victim was a 62 year old man who died in the emergency room from a single gunshot wound to the back.

After further investigation, police discovered two suspects. They were identified as 22-year-old Rodney F. Walter Jr. and 21-year-old Maurice D. Pope, both of Selma. The two men were hanging around a package store when they saw the victim exit and allegedly shot and robbed him of his money.

Both suspects have been charged with Capital Murder and are now being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
