Meter Misread May Have Led to $750 Water BillBig water bills have residents in one Autauga County town up in arms. A group protested over the weekend to get the city's attention prompting a Tuesday meeting with city leaders. The city says it could have been a misread on the water meter, but wished the residents had talked to them first before protesting. "I think it was handled a little big wrong. Maybe they should have come to the council first," said Water Works Operator Danny Chavers. The city says it's looking into the problem and will adjust the bills if necessary. Meanwhile, the city is proposing to raise water rates by 75 cents because of a struggling financial situation. Most Viewed |
