Jessica Gertler
News Reporter
Since joining CBS 8 in November 2010, every day in the River Region is feeling more like home.
Before moving to Montgomery, I was a reporter in the Alabama News Network Troy Newsroom. I met amazing people, and the Troy area will always have a special place in my heart.
I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a major in Journalism and Electronic Media. Throughout my college career, I stayed busy reporting for the Tennessee Journalist.
During my summers, I interned for Country Music Television where I reported on Nashville’s CMA Music Festival, helped produce the CMT Country Music Awards and interviewed country stars including Billy Currington.
I also interned at WVLT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Knoxville, Tenn., and WTVF-TV, the CBS affiliate in Nashville, Tenn. I shadowed award-winning reporters and photographers. I helped cover stories including the devastating floods in Nashville, the Mosque controversy in Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Ft. Campbell soldiers returning home from Iraq.
I spent part of my childhood in San Francisco, Calif. and Scottsdale, Ariz. I moved to Nashville, Tenn. in 2002, and have fallen in love with sweet tea, southern hospitality and, of course, SEC football. Although I am a Vol at heart, the Trojans, Crimson Tide and Tiger spirits are catching!
When I am not at work, I spend my time exploring new shops and restaurants, working out, photography and listening to music. I enjoy reading, laughing, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
I love meeting new people and telling the stories that matter the most. Please feel free to send me an email with story ideas, questions or a simple hello.
