South Alabama Newsroom Reporter
Amanda Wade is the South Alabama Newsroom Reporter covering Butler, Covington and Crenshaw counties. She joined the Alabama News Network after working in production operations at Fox 5 in Atlanta.
Amanda graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s degree in drama. She majored in Mass Media Arts and Theatre.
During her time in college, Amanda volunteered with Grady Newsource as a staff member operating cameras, prompter and floor directing. She also volunteered on several student productions as a producer, assistant director, camera assistant, location scout and a cast coordinator.
As a senior, she produced a 10-minute documentary on sexual assault in her college community where she discovered her passion for telling the stories of others through media.
At Fox 5 Atlanta, Amanda floor-directed the Good Day Atlanta morning show, operated cameras, assisted in the production of commercials and shadowed reporters. After going out on her first story, Amanda was bitten by the reporting bug and realized she had found her calling.
Although Amanda is a Georgia peach, she’s thrilled to make Alabama her new “Sweet Home!” She loves being active and experiencing new things, so in her spare time you can find her exploring running trails, visiting museums and local attractions, going to concerts, seeing movies and spending quality time with friends, family and her adorable dog, Mia.
