Brian Penter joined Alabama News Network as a sports reporter/videographer in July 2012. Brian grew up in Marietta, GA and comes to CBS 8 from the University of Florida where he received a Bachelor's in Telecommunications and a minor in Business.
While attending UF, he worked as a sports anchor and reporter for the WUFT First at Five newscasts. Brian also worked at WRUF Sports Radio 850 as a sportscaster and host of a sports talk show called "The Cheap Seats." On Friday nights, he called play-by-play for high school football games in Ocala on radio. Before leaving Gainesville, he spent time interning in the sports department at WCJB-TV.
Brian has known he's wanted to work in sports broadcasting since he was 12 years old, when he started his career as the PA announcer for his younger brother's football team. Now, he's thrilled to be covering sports in SEC country and loves the passion of the fans in the region.
In his down time, Brian enjoys sitting back and cheering on his Atlanta sports franchises. And while he's not very good, he loves getting out on the golf course. If you want to talk sports, have a local sports story that's worth telling, or just want to get in touch with Brian, feel free to email him at email@example.com.
