Mo Carter is the sports director for Alabama News Network. He joined CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery in October of 2013.
Mo was born and raised along the bayous of South Louisiana in the town of Napoleonville.
During his prep years, Mo earned all-district, regional and honorable mention all-state honors in both football and track. His high school teammates included current NFL players Brandon Jacobs (New York Giants) and Tramon Williams (Green Bay Packers).
After high school, Mo attended Nicholls State University and played football on the team that captured 2005 Southland Conference Championship. After two years, he transferred to Southern University and played for the Jaguars under legendary head coach Pete Richardson. During college, Mo worked as a Sports Anchor/Reporter for Southern University's Channel 75.
Mo served as the President of NAACP, the National Association of Black Journalists and RTNDA. During his last semester, he appeared in the national spotlight twice: being a student VJ for SU on BET's Black College Tour commercials and sideline reporting for ESPN's Campus Connection Week.
These opportunities gave way for Mo to earn an internship at WAFB in Baton Rouge, and he was put to work quickly. His second day of the internship was national signing day! Following the internship, WAFB hired Mo as a sports producer, videographer and reporter. After a year and a half, Mo went to KALB in Alexandria, Louisiana, as a sports anchor/reporter and was later named sports director.
Mo has covered countless high school championship games, the 2011 SEC Football Championship, the 2012 BCS Championship Game, the 2012 NCAA Men's Final Four, the Sugar Bowl, Independence Bowl, Bayou Classic, the 2013 Southland Conference Softball Championships and the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans.
He was in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on the night at Drew Brees broke Johnny Unitas' record of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.
Mo is a huge fan of Louisiana sports teams --Saints, Southern Jags and the New Orleans Pelicans. In his spare time he enjoys traveling and working out.
