Marcy Novak

Morning/Noon Meteorologist

Marcy Novak joined CBS 8 in January 2011. You can catch her weekday mornings on Alabama News Network This Morning as well as Alabama News Network at Noon.

Marcy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and it was there that she developed an interest in weather, especially severe weather. Marcy knew she wanted to be a broadcast meteorologist even as early as 5 years old. After living in the heart of tornado alley for about 6 years, Marcy then moved to near Dallas, Texas.

Marcy attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. While in college, Marcy was an active member of the Texas A&M Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the Texas A&M Storm Chasing Team. Marcy won first place in the National Collegiate Weather Forecasting Contest during her time at Texas A&M.

Before coming to CBS 8, Marcy began her career at KTAB-TV in Abilene, Texas as a meteorologist and reporter. Two years later, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where she spent over two years as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter at KTBS-TV.

In 2011, Marcy was designated as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society (AMS CBM). According to the American Meteorological Society, "To earn the CBM, broadcasters must hold a degree in meteorology (or equivalent) from an accredited college/university, pass a written examination and have their work reviewed to assess technical competence, informational value, explanatory value and communication skills."

She was also the Secretary for the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.

When she is not following the weather, Marcy enjoys spending time with her husband and their beagle, Ranger, attending church, getting involved with the community and meeting new people.
