The Governor's Task Force on Illegal Gambling attempts two separate raids early Friday morning.

The raids took place at Victoryland in Macon County and at Country Crossing in Houston County.

Hundreds of state troopers showed up at both locations to seize electronic bingo machines.

At Victoryland, a judge stopped troopers in their tracks by issuing a temporary restraining order.

At Country Crossing, owners shut down the gaming center just hours before troopers arrived.

The commander of the Governor's Task Force,John Tyson, says that all electronic bingo machines are illegal in Alabama. He is seeking an order from the State supreme clearing the way for the Task Force's raids to take place.

"That is what the governor has asked us to do. He said Mr. Tyson enforce the law. Mr. Tyson reestablish the rule of law in the state of Alabama. Let me assure you that as soon as the Supreme Court lifts the temperorary restraining order we're going forward at Victoryland and were going forward at County Crossings. Everybody else needs to hear what we say," Tyson said.

Governor Bob Riley appointed Tyson just last Monday. Riley says he hasn't spoken to anyone today regarding the raids.

"I haven't talked to anyone since the raids this morning. I really don't want to comment about it until I talk to Tyson about what happened and why," Riley said.
