The mayor of Wetumpka says the Indian Gaming Center near the city is bringing lots of traffic and safety problems to the city.

Mayor Jerry Willis says that he's seen an increase in traffic through Wetumpka because of other gambling facilities being closed. The Poarch Creek Indians have an electronic bingo center near the city. Willis says they have always had a good relationship with the center but Willis is concerned about keeping Wetumpka residents safe.

"Does it cause problems? Yes. I was talking with my police chief yesterday about the increase in traffice since a lot of these other facilities have closed. We're getting a tremendous amount of traffic into Wetumpka then we normally get so it does put a burden on us because we have to monitor all the traffic and make sure everyone's safe," Jerry Willis, Wetumpka's mayor said.

Willis says he hopes to continue to work with the Poarch Creek Indians to keep Wetumpka safe despite the increase in traffic.
