Budgets take top priority in Alabama LegislatureMONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Legislature is beginning the last full week of its 2012 regular session with the emphasis on the state budgets. The General Fund budget passed by the House is up for consideration at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Senate Finance and Taxation-General Fund Committee, and the education budget approved by the Senate is slated for consideration at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the House Ways and Means-General Fund Committee. The Legislature plans to meet Tuesday through Thursday this week and then return for the final day of the regular session on May 21. |
