Former employee of DA's office sentencedMONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A former employee who handled check cases for the Escambia County District Attorney's Office has been sentenced after pleading guilty to felony ethics and second-degree forgery convictions. Prosecutors say Monica Lynn Watson was given the sentence Tuesday. They say she pleaded guilty on April 16, just before her trial was to begin. Watson was sentenced concurrently to six years for each of the two counts. Her sentence was split to serve 24 months which will follow a six-month probationary period. Watson was also ordered to perform 300 hours of community service and to pay a $1,500 fine plus court costs. Attorney General Strange says the case involves the misuse of funds totaling $10, 259. |
