Flood advisory issued in south-central Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small-stream flood advisory for southern Covington County in south-central Alabama until midnight CDT.

Forecasters reported Sunday night that heavy rain and thunderstorms have been moving over the region, producing 1 to 2 inches of rainfall between about 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. alone. Some areas got as much as 3 inches. An additional inch or so was expected by midnight Sunday.

The weather service said flooding was likely in low-lying areas, as was ponding of water on roadways.

The advisory covers Lockhart, Florala, Falco, Shiloh, and Huckaville.
