Alabama senator's child hospitalized on final day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Republican state Sen. Shadrack McGill of Woodville missed the start of the Legislature's final meeting day because his 7-year-old daughter was hospitalized.

Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey announced to the Senate that the girl suffered a bad fall on Tuesday and was being treated at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

Wednesday is the final day of the Legislature's 2012 regular session.
