Ala. memorial to War on Terror victims updatedMONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley is preparing to unveil the updated memorial to Alabamians who have died as a result of the War on Terror since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The memorial is in the Old Supreme Court Library on the first floor of the Alabama Capitol. The updated memorial will be revealed at 11 a.m. Thursday. Press secretary Jennifer Ardis said Wednesday nine names have been added since it was last updated in October, 2010. With the additions, there will be 133 names on the memorial. Joining Bentley at the ceremony will be Alabama Adjutant General Perry Smith and members of Gold Star Wives and Gold Star Families of America. Those organizations are made up of wives and family members of those who have died serving their country. |
