Auburn coach: Players struggling after killings
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn football coach Gene Chizik says his team is struggling after the weekend shooting that killed two former players.
Chizik told reporters Tuesday his goal is to provide aid and counseling to players who need assistance coping with the tragedy.
Former Auburn football players Edward Christian and Ladarious Phillips died in the gunfire, and current player Eric Mack is recovering from a gunshot wound. Three others were also wounded.
Chizik says it's hard for young people to cope with death, and he wants to make sure his players get the help they need. He says there's a lot of grieving ahead for the team.
Funerals are scheduled for Friday and Saturday for the shooting victims.
