AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Two of the victims of the Auburn shootings were remembered by family and friends at separate funeral services.

The Opelika-Auburn News reports that services were held Friday for former Auburn University football player Ladarious Phillips and DeMario Pitts.

The 20-year-old Phillips was remembered for his ever-present smile. Pitts, also 20-years-old, was known for always lending a hand.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik, members of the football team and residents attended Phillips' service in Roanoke. Pitts' service was held in Loachapoka.

Phillips, Pitts and Ed Christian — another former Auburn football player — were killed and three others wounded Saturday night at a pool party at an apartment complex.

The service for Christian is at 1 p.m. Saturday in Valdosta, Ga.

Demonte Leonard is in jail on capital murder and assault charges.
