Weather service: Dangerously hot temps continueFLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — Forecasters say the temperatures are only getting hotter across Alabama. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the state's northwestern corner. Extreme heat is predicted there for Friday afternoon into the evening. Forecasters are expecting a record high of 106 degrees in the Florence area a day after Muscle Shoals broke a 60-year-old record with a high of 105 degrees. Highs are predicted in the low triple-digits through at least Tuesday, and forecasters say the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel like it's around 110 degrees. The weather service says it's hottest in the state's northern counties because of a high pressure dome. But highs at or above 100 degrees are predicted as far south as the Florida line. |
