Phenix City water system gets upgradePHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say residents in the east Alabama town of Phenix City should see better water pressure on the city's south side when a $870,000 upgrade to a water main is completed. Utilities Director Roger Conner tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (http://bit.ly/RqmCml) that the project is expected to be finished around Jan. 7. Conner said workers are installing an 18-inch-wide pipe alongside the current 6-inch line from 15th Street to Broad Street, where it will connect to a 24-inch main, Conner said. He said the project is being funded through bond money. ___ Information from: Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, http://ledger-enquirer.com |
