Alabama man who shot stepmom gets prison
DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — A Dale County man who killed his stepmother before turning the gun on himself is going to prison.
Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams says 22-year-old Thomas Michael Pressley of Daleville pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday.
The Dothan Eagle (http://bit.ly/SVfkbT ) reports that a judge sentenced Pressley to 30 years in prison for killing 45-year-old Loretta Leia Pressley in April. The man told police he didn't get along with the woman.
Authorities say Pressley shot his stepmother while was she was in her bed. He then shot himself in the head before going to a neighbor's home for help.
Pressley lost and eye and the bullet damaged his sinus cavity. He was hospitalized for a month before being sent to jail.
A judge determined Pressley was competent to stand trial.
