Huntsville raising money to help with power bills

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Huntsville is raising money to help the poor pay their power bills.

Mayor Tommy Battle has proclaimed Sunday as "Project Share Sunday" as part of the effort.

AL.com reports (http://bit.ly/XmpDMN ) that the partnership between Huntsville Utilities and the Salvation Army allows customers to donate money to help low-income families and individuals pay their power bills.

The program has raised more than $3 million since it began.
