Ruben Studdard Weekend draws crowd to downtown

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — More than 3,000 people have gathered in Birmingham's Linn Park to raise money for the Ruben Studdard Foundation for the Advancement of Children in the Music Arts.

Studdard told al.com that the purpose of Sunday's event was also to raise awareness of the importance of living a healthier lifestyle and to promote downtown Birmingham.

Studdard is a former American Idol winner from Birmingham.

The festival included music, food, a fitness festival, and several running/walking events.
