Man arrested in Ala. community college killing

CENTRE, Ala. (AP) — A 37-year-old man was arrested in the death of a woman who was found on the campus of a north Alabama community college.

The Gadsden Times (http://bit.ly/V9pZPy ) reported Vennie Leroy Keaton was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Friday in Cookeville, Tenn., about 100 miles north of Chattanooga.

The body of 32-year-old Melissa Leann Hudgins was found Wednesday in the mechanical room of an arena at Gadsden State Community College.

Authorities say Hudgins was a contract worker at the school. Keaton was her co-worker.

Police are not disclosing additional details on the circumstances surrounding the woman's death or any charges that may be filed.

Authorities from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were traveling to Cookeville Friday evening to take Keaton into custody.
