1 person dead after Childersburg police shooting

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. (AP) — One person is dead following a police shooting in the Talladega County city of Childersburg.

WBRC-TV (http://bit.ly/QCdOyb ) reports the gunfire occurred at a convenience store on U.S. 280 early Monday. A helicopter ambulance took the person to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he died.

Authorities haven't released any names or details about what happened.

Talladega County District Attorney Steve Giddens says the shooting involved a Childersburg police officer. Giddens says his office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation are reviewing the shooting.
