Ala. troopers say police chase ends crash, 2 deadCARROLLTON, Ala. (AP) — Alabama State Troopers are investigating a deadly police chase that ended in a head-on crash that killed two people in the fleeing vehicle. Authorities say the crash happened Saturday evening on Alabama state Highway 17 in Pickens County. WBRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Yy1FsU ) the chase started when a Carrollton police officer attempted to pull over a car that ended up speeding away. Carrollton Police Chief Anthony Durram says his officers were calling off the chase when the fleeing car and another vehicle collided head-on. Sgt. Steve Jarrett of the Alabama State Troopers tells al.com (http://bit.ly/UfLXBs ) the crash killed the driver and a passenger inside the fleeing car. He says two other people were taken to Pickens County Medical Center with injuries that don't appear to be life-threating. |
