HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — The president of a Birmingham area firearms store and shooting range says business has tripled since President Obama was re-elected in November.

Thomas Wright says gun sales started rising at Hoover Tactical Firearms the day after Obama was re-elected. Wright says sales went through the roof after the shootings last month at a Connecticut elementary school and that he's had to hire extra employees.

Wright says he's also seeing an increase in the number of people wanting to use the shooting range.

When he asks people why the sudden interest in firearms he says customers tell him they are afraid there will be a crackdown on gun sales,

He says the increased sales have depleted much of his supply of weapons and some types of magazines.
