Ala. man pleads guilty in bank robbery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Officials in the U.S. Attorney's office say a 32-year-old Montgomery man has pleaded guilty to bank robbery and one count of using firearm during a violent crime.

A U.S. Attorney's spokeswoman says Darrin Bell walked into a Community Bank and Trust branch on Oct. 5, pulled a gun from his duffel bag and demanded money from a teller. Authorities say a teller handed Bell about $1,500 and he fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Authorities say Bell could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine for the bank robbery. Bell could also face up to seven years in prison for using a firearm and two fines of up to $250,000 for the robbery and using a firearm.
