Lane closures planned for Birmingham highways

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Transportation officials are closing lanes along Interstates 20 and 59 in Birmingham for maintenance work.

The closures that will continue Sunday will allow workers to repair overhead signs.

Al.com (http://bit.ly/VKT7Op ) reports that westbound lanes will be closed for 15-minute periods beginning Sunday at 1 a.m.

The Department of Transportation urged drivers to plan for delays and consider alternate routes.
